Welcome to Fairview Roamstead!
We are Glenn, Kristy, Reagan and Benjamin (Ben).
We started our new adventure in December 2024, but let's rewind a little........
Glenn and Kristy met at Peet's Coffee in Dublin, CA (thank you match.com) in December 2013. Things moved quickly as we intertwined our lives together. Kristy met and fell in love with Glenn's two children, Amber and Nicholas from a previous marriage. On Thanksgiving, 2015, Glenn proposed and I accepted. We decided to elope and on January 16, 2016, we were married. On September 27, 2017, Reagan Anne Westfall came into the world.
We decide while I was on maternity leave, lets do something. We decided to rent an RV and drive Route 66 backwards and check out the east coast. Three weeks after Reagan was born, we took off from Santa Monica in a Cruise America RV and the trip that would change our lives. As we went across the states, we decided that once we were able to, we would leave CA and head to New Hampshire. We fell in love with the state and the people; it had so much to offer: slower pace of life, cost of living exponentially cheaper, and the best thing of all, own our own home with land. While waiting for Nicholas to graduate high school, we got our ducks in a row, we gave our notice to our landlord, ordered an ABF container, bought a truck and 2019 Grand Design Reflection Travel Trailer.
In June 2019, Nicholas graduated high school and we were off. We left Tracy, California and had two weeks to travel to New Hampshire so Kristy could start working. Before we arrived in Ossipee, NH, Glenn was able to get us a long term site at Beaver Hollow RV park. Great campground, large pool, play area and the staff is so kind and helpful. Four months into our stay, we found our house in Tamworth, the next town over from Ossipee. It had 2.5 acres, 2 outbuildings and a main house that was perfect for our family of three. We closed on the house in October 2019 and moved in shortly thereafter. Glenn went to work quickly and built a chicken coop for egg laying hens. We started out with 20 egg layers and moved onto meat birds. Glenn built the chicken tractor and raised and butchered Cornish Cross chickens (like the ones in the store).
We met many wonderful people in Tamworth including our amazing friends Sam and Jen and their son Sammy. We decided that we wanted to add more animals to the farm: pigs and cows but our land was not enough. Then we began to look at real estate with more acreage. Sadly, during this time Kristy's father passed away and her mother decided to sell the family home in CA and move to NH. We found Fairview Farms in Grafton; 103 acres of wooded land, one house, three barns, 1 cabin and a waterfall (Glenn's favorite aspect of the property). In August 2022, we moved from Tamworth to Grafton. We hit the ground running. We added rabbits, pigs and more meat birds to the mix. We also decided to log 35 acres of the property so we can create pasture area for cows. We also added the grandma to the mix; Kristy's mom moved in and the start to build her an in-law unit began.
On January 30, 2023, Benjamin Luke Westfall joined the crew. Kristy left her job and became a stay at home mom. Prior to our move from Tamworth, we rented out our RV to people during the summer months.
In 2024, our friends Sam and Jen decided to live on Sam's parents property and we let them use our trailer. Instead of disappointing our renters, we decided to purchase a 2024 Grand Design Influence. Yes, I know that sounds absurd to buy a large RV to not disappoint people but we did. In June, the Influence went out on her maiden voyage to our renters for the summer. Our renters tested the waters with our new rig, We personally did not get to shake out our new rig until September.
We started a discussion of the idea of taking our trailer out on the road full time. It didn't take long for us to decide to go for it. Thankfully, our friends Sam and Jen agreed to move into our house to maintain the property and help Kristy's mom. Her house would be finished prior to her return from CA in February 2025. We made the plan to leave on December 15, 2024. Two weeks before our departure we had a large snow storm and living in the trailer in snow and cold, we were going through propane every other day. We decided to leave one week early. On December 8, 2024, we left Grafton. We stayed overnight at our church in Wentworth, NH. December 9th we headed towards Florida and now the adventure is on and for who knows how long. Stay tuned.........
